We are birthFUND. A coalition of families who believe in a world where no mother is left to fall through the cracks of a broken maternal health care system. We are creating a safety net of resources for families across the country to expand immediate access to quality, life-saving maternal health care. One birth at a time.WHAT WE DO We match individual funders with families in need of quality midwifery care and birth support across the country through an “each one reach one” community care model. OUR WHYAmerica is in a birth care crisis. Did you know that the U.S. has the highest rates of maternal mortality in all of the industrialized world? And Black mothers are more than 3 to 4 times more likely to die during and after childbirth. There is no reason that in 2024 it should be this risky to give birth in the wealthiest country in the world. Especially when solutions are within reach. Studies show that midwives could prevent more than 80% of maternal and infant deaths. Yet, midwifery care is not covered by most insurance providers in America. We are tired of waiting for change. Today was surreal. St. Louis isn’t just a place on a map; it’s the heart of my story that has shaped me into who I am today. What a full circle, humbling moment that with Karlie Kloss Way, I now get to be a part of St. Louis as well.And as a proud Missourian, I have been so inspired by the tenacity and dedication of the volunteers at @moconstitutionalfreedom who welcomed me in gathering signatures to support Missouri’s abortion ballot referendum. The people of Missouri deserve access to vital healthcare and autonomy over their own bodies — full stop. Missouri, I love you. I am so proud of you. This homegrown St. Louisan is ever grateful.
